Giving this a bump, as I wouldnt want it to goto waste. If you have no plans on Sunday (29th) and wanna see the hip sound of now (im an old git), grab a freebie from me! I promise you dnot have to 'hang out' with me or anything. Just want a ticket not goto waste is all. x One last bump. It is unusual to have a line up with absolutely NO duffers playing.

I have a ticket for Wide Awake this coming Friday going spare if anyone wants it. The best one-day line-up of the year. No money required. DM if interested.

Longer review when I'm not so tired. But, to summarise. I saw the future at Ceremony today. If Lynks are not selling out Wembley in a few years time, there is no justice in the world. Immense.

If so, I will need to sweet talk my lady partner into letting me go. Which is a big ask.... Why arnt you going, BTW?

Longer review when I'm not so tired. But, to summarise. I saw the future at Ceremony today. If Lynks are not selling out Wembley in a few years time, there is no justice in the world. Immense. Turns out tiredness is a constant. So.....yesterday, I went to Bedford's esquires to watch bands at their inaugural all dayer Ceremony #1. It was, frankly, ridiculous the amount of quality there was. I saw lots of good things. The best of which were Crows. My god. WHAT a fantastic noise. Think Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs covering Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. But better (someone with a better vocabulary should write my eulogies about great acts....). I'm a convert. New favourite band. ALSO fantastic in a completely different way were Lynks. Imagine the lyrical wit of Jarvis Cocker with the banging backing track produced by Dan Le Sac, being sung by MNEK. But he performs it all in a black and red glitter gimp suit. I guess I should also use the term 'fierce'? Just brilliant. Also bloody-great-just-not-quite-as-great-as-the-aforementioned were Phantom Isle (socially conscious Everything Everything), Regressive Left (groovy things) and Grace Tayler (played on outside stage. So lots of talking. Shame, as her voice was phenomenal). So....yeah. a lovely time was had. Course, in the tired haze of the morning, with my ears still ringing, it's Lynks that is stuck in my brainbox.

Saw them at Latitude in 2019, it was a life affirming racket!

Wild guess but I’m going to go with End of the Road as being the reason…. Not difficult to guess as I can't be in two places at once, and I'm glad to say the ticket has gone to a good home. If I was going to Wide Awake, Lazarus Kane and The Murder Capital would be my absolute unmissables. Fortunately Lazarus Kane are at EOTR too, so that only leaves me desperately pining to see TMC again. And anyway, being at EOTR means I get to see WH Lung and hear their new stuff live.

Fair to say I'm a bit chuffed with Dry Cleaning being a late addition to Wide Awake.

Good luck to all end of the roaders. Enjoy that hot, sweet cider. And Stereolab.
Good luck to the wide awakers too. Its Mrs Moz's only festival this yeah. So go easy on her if she gets a bit messy.
And enjoy Timmy Mallet playing a live mallets mallet. Supported by Tommy Boyd, I presume.
(The line up is mega. But Wide Awake is a crap name for a festival...)

www.wideskiesfestival.co.uk/One to maybe watch - new festival in Norfolk for next year, apparently with a '90's feel' I'm skeptical, especially as the local rag seem to have plunged money in already, but lets see a lineup and location I suppose

Mrs Moz's review of Wide Awake. Or snippets there of....
'It's alright'
'Lynks are fun'
'So much soundbleed'
'I hate chatty London crowds'
And
'Why are young women not wearing bras anymore?'
In other news, the schedule of the first day of Portals is out. And I have an almighty clash....
Please help.

had a great boozy day at wide awake.
it was loads busier than i expected and yeah, crowd was annoyingly chatty.
acts i saw were...
squid - just a brilliant live band now. 4th time seeing them and 3rd time this summer - great stuff.
los bitchos - hadn't really listened to them before despite hearing lots about them. real good fun.
dry cleaning - the best band in the world. not quite as good as the latitude set as was cut short and didn't get to play scratchcard lanyard but otherwise perfect
kikagaku moyo - had been looking forward to these but ended up not really enjoying them. not their fault though, it was a combination of poor sound on that stage, me eating some korean chicken at the same time and it not being the kind of music i was after having just had my mind blown by dry cleaning. will try them again at their own gig one day.
black country new road - i love the album and this was my first time seeing them live. it was a really good performance but again suffered a bit from the chatty crowd during the quieter more subtle moments. still really good though and ive got a feeling that the norwich waterfront gig in december will be stunning.
black midi - absolutely huge. even better than when id seen them before and the place went wild. great set and energy.
yard act - real short set but they totally smashed it. the frontman is a proper star. will be huge.
ended up at the shacklewell arms after hoping to catch the afterparty gig from crack cloud. got there about 11 and was told they weren't onstage until 1am. hung around for a bit but a whole day of drinking caught up with us by then so i ended up back in my hotel room by midnight.

I'm not big on Black Midi, but otherwise that's a hell of a day at a Festival! Crack Cloud were amazing at Green man, but in your shoes I'd do exactly the same!

@maddix EOTR was vastly better than I anticipated, but your comment about Dry Cleaning isn't far off. The set last night was a step and a half up again from Sunrise, just achingly intense in a rammed big top (about 2/3 of the Scary?). So, so good. Also Squid best I've ever seen them, and borderline riotous. Brilliant. Much more reporting to come.... I've had a stunning festival summer tbh.
