THe house of cards starts to tumble....
I think, maybe, 2021 is a festival right off, peeps. I guess.....MAYBE, in August/September, there's a chance.....
The main thing now is to support those events which have lost a year already. Another year of lost revenue might be the death nail....
Arse bags....

You wonder which festivals will actually be around in 2022

Indeed. I think all the Festival Republic ones will probably be fine, as would most of the Live Nations ones (one or two might disappear, to save costs). Probably most of the ones run by Global will, i would guess, be OK. I think EOTR & Green Man will be good (being well run with a dedicated fanbase). Anything else? WHo knows....
depressing.

I know this isn't new news but there are definitely conversations taking place whereby other, smaller, festivals are hoped to go ahead but with UK artists only.

Solarsky seems on the money to me.
The behemoth festivals can't take the £ risk, but last minute almost 'pop up' ones or small niche will (relatively) flourish first. But expect to pay for sure.
Feel very very sorry for the year to year staff (like Annie) who will need alternatives for 12-18 months.

Done. Under comments, I left out the bit about 'Relaxing long weekend breaks away from the latest news of government corruption, incompetence and hypocrisy'.

Half fancy the Standon Calling line up but 22nd July is just a bit too early for me to risk at this point (really hoping I’ll feel differently later in the year)....

interesting that standon calling have bastille as a headliner the same as latitude. the quote from one of bastille that latitude is using on their website says latitude is their only uk festival appearance of the summer!

I always quite fancy going to Standon Calling, but the line-up never seems to be have enough to it for me, but hopefully Primal Scream, Squid, BC Camplight, Working Men's Club, and Porridge Radio will also be travelling to Suffolk that weekend, which would be a good start to what hasn't yet been announced for Latitude.

BC Camplight and Mystery Jets would be great. Sister Sledge would be fun. But overall if Latitude's lineup closely resembles Standon then I wont be going to either.

So EOTR has, near 100%, put out a 100% lineup. If that happens........ wow <3

Liverpool Sound City looks rather neat? Now at start of October. Some bands in there that would definitely suit Latte too.

Black Deer revised lineup this week.
End of June festival, predominantly US lineup...I'm expecting massive changes but don't really care... I just want to go!

Anyone else feel like the pandemic might weirdly be the saviour of festivals?
It honestly felt like the love was waning in 2019... and now festivals are selling out without even announcing a lineup. Just feels like 2005 has been reborn.

Just feels like 2005 has been reborn. It might be a case of a) having nothing to look forward to for a year, with a desire to go out and live again (fingers crossed!) and b) too many festivals in 2019. And, unfortunately, some will not have survived the year of hell. It's a worry for those of us who wait for a line up before committing hard earned honk.....

Intertesting announcement from Womad, which is the same weekend as Latitude. Firstly, its going ahead; secondly, it will be 'mainly UK based artists' who will be announced on 12 April, with the hope to add international artists around 17 May, 'many of whom are already committed to performing ... if international travel allows'. Also, some thoughts on Lateral Flow testing.

Portsmouth’s Victorious fest have announced today.
Fontaine’s DC a notable one for me.
But anyway, great news that they are going ahead.

Isle of Wight and Kendal Calling both announce initial line ups tomorrow.
Decided to let my optimism get the better of me and see this as the music version of swallows returning in spring.....
(Currently not planning to go to either of them but I do have that slight tingle of excitement....)
