Last night i saw Decemberists. OK......so.....there are 4 things that, as a GENERAL rule, i dont really like in music. HA monica's. Saxamophones. Slide guitars. And Hammond Organs. There are exceptions to this general rule (Hamonica on Marion's 'sleep' is good. Sax on 'Baker Street' is top notch (as an aside, he died www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-devon-29700432 ), HAmmond ORgan use by Ultrasound & Pure Reason Revolution (rip) is good. And the verve used the slide guitar quite well), but its generally true that I do not like these 4 pieces of instrumentation. The Decemberists had 3 of these....... Saying all that.....and a non fan, they were quite good. I think the ladywife like it lots. So that was pleasing. For me......they were slightly less twee & annoying live. Which is nice..... The End.

jesus and mary chain smashed it at the uea last night.
was the same set that i saw them do at troxy in november and was equally as good as that night. only slight criticism would be that jim reid's vocals were slightly lost in the mix at times but that's always going to be the danger with a band as loud as jamc. so good seeing one of my all time favourite bands playing one of my all time favourite albums in my home town though. book more gigs like this please uea.

Hang out with some oldies. Very excited for tonight, lover The War on Drugs at Latitude and driving home on Friday with their 6 Music festival playing upped the excitement. San Fermin is in London, I rarely go to gigs their anymore as live I Worthing and it is a real pain getting to London, Brighton is much more civilised! I like the the suggestion in your post that at 45 I am young, don't normally get called that on music/festival forums! yesterday bought tickets for Anna Calvi and Tricky, both playing in May.

I suppose if you live in Worthing, James, you would be used to being considered young at 45!

I suppose if you live in Worthing, James, you would be used to being considered young at 45! It can feel that way, especially on a Wednesday which is market day! WOD were excellent last night, seemed like they didn't want to leave the stage and the crowd were up for it. Was even better than they were at Latitude but then they were able to play a full set.

what is it with Rae Morris? doesn't seem twelve months since she was on at the Portland Arms and they couldn't give the tickets away, now my niece likes her (think Kasabian fan teen) and she is popping O2 academy gigs out of her arse. didn't grouchland have something to say about overdeserved hype?

I saw Rae Morris last year at Open (downstairs) and there was all of 25 people there, but last week at NAC it was packed. Quite a jump in less than 10 months, but for me, she does everything I want from a young upcoming singer songwriter. I cant say she is my cup of tea, however I get entertained, I appreciate her talent and compared to some doing the rounds, she deserves the praise. I suppose her rise can be attributed to her 'guest' appearing on tracks by Bombay bicycle club, clean bandit and such. Its certainly got her mentioned on 6music almost as much as Ghost Poet! Maddix (not Moz!), I was at JAMC saturday night too and totally agree. The feedback filled the room and certainly the vocals were lost at time, but what a set! I loved how they built up to sheer volume! I was saying at the start that it wasnt loud enough, but the end, it hit all the right buttons! I went to 6music festival Sunday evening. It was certainly better than last year. The Sage was a fantastic venue with quite possibly the happiest and most helpful staff Ive ever known, food and drink was reasonable and not to over-priced, and no merchandise! All in all it was a great event with some great performances, but at times, pretty ordinary acts getting exposure on a national scale! Nadine Shah, The Maccabees, King Creosote and Gaz Coombes played blinders, Young Fathers (shocking sound) shouted alot (dont be surprised to see them at Henham park as 2015's Rudimental!!), Charlatans were ..... well The Charlatans (nothin new there). I didnt see BSP unfortunately. Out of the others: Neneh Cherry, Wire & Public service broadcasting were just... ordinary.

Went to see Death From Above 1979 on Wednesday, and they became only the 2nd band I've walked out of within an hour. All the subtlety of the latest album removed and replaced by noise. Gutted.
Last night went to see Longfellow at the Borderline. They were nice in a New Sunset Hotel/Keane/Coldplay type of way. First band Habitats were a bit Vampire Weekend, a bit 80s, so enjoyable. Second on, The Hosts, were a Phil Spector/Roy Orbison/Richard Hawley style revelation, and the first support band I've seen cold, and instantly fallen in love with for YEARS!!! Utterly stunning. Desperate to promote a gig by them. Purchased the album and have listened to it 3 times already!

Saw Ryan Adams tonight in Hammersmith. Absolutely mind blowing. I thought he was good late last year when I saw him at Shepherd's Bush but this was an even better experience. A real greatest hits vibe to the set list and one of my favourite people in music nowadays.

Would love to see Blur, but really can't be bothered with the whole Hyde Park thing.
I just hope they do some indoor gigs some time.

I downloaded his new album this week and thought it was a bit meh given all the hype for it.
I don't really think he's done anything that good since 1995. So I hope he plays lots of early Oasis, or I'm gonna get bored.

Well, that's weird, I just moved to Worthing a few weeks back. Would be good to bump into a fellow Latituder at Concorde2.

Well, that's weird, I just moved to Worthing a few weeks back. Would be good to bump into a fellow Latituder at Concorde2. Would be good. Concorde is a god venue although we don't have anything booked there. There are a lot of good venues in Brighton and a lot of bands play there. Despite the above run in 8 days we don't get to gigs so much since having Thomas last year. Saying that we have the following booked Anna Calvi at The Dome (great venue) Tricky at the Corn Exchange (another good venue) Young Fathers at The Haunt (great small venue) paul Weller at the Brighton Centre (crap venue but it's Weller) Will post here any others wee book. what are you doing in Worthing? Work I presume.

I know I'll get a roasting for this but Muse have just announced an intimate tour including Brighton.
I NEED those tickets in my life, they go on sale tomorrow but I don't know if I'll be able to get to Livenation on the work computers. Stress. Anyone want to help out a fellow Latituder pretty please?

Noel Gallagher was very good last night, but from our seats up in the gods, loads of liquid being thrown, and quite a few fights breaking out. Off to see Royal Blood again on Friday, who I'm sure will be awesome again. Failed to get Muse tickets for Brighton Dome with my presale code, but will get frustrated and swear at my desk when I'm trying (and realistically failing) tomorrow
