HELLO!!!!
I saw Ditz in London town last night. Despite London crowds fondness of a big ol chat and some feedback issues between songs, they were the tops. So good. 4 mozzies out of 5.
I now have no gigs until Portals fest at the end of May. Finances are crippling.
GOODBYE!!!!

Gaz Coombes supported by Lonelady at Norwich Waterfront last night.
Really enjoying the latest Gaz album and this was a great gig. Last time I saw him he was proper solo and acoustic but this time with a full band it was loud and a real tight unit.

Fun fact, Gaz Coombes was the first act I ever saw live at Latitude on our inaugural visit in 2013. Okay, perhaps not a fun fact, but definitely a fact.

Had a few high quality gigs recently:
Rose City Band in London (though enjoyment impaired due to my gammy leg). Brighten the Corners Festival in Ipswich, which was an utterly amazing event in my town. Highlights were Rozi Plain, Snake Eyes, Ditz, and Baba Ali. One day at Desertfest, which was very heavy, but good fun. Langkamer at the Smokehouse in Ipswich.
Those were all great, but very much pale into the background compared to Frankie and the Witch Fingers at Oslo in Hackney last week. Bloody hell, we were grinning from ear to ear as we left the venue. Check these out if you get a chance.

Saw Robbie Williams last week here in Luxembourg and he was actually really quite good, he is definitely more showman than singer but that’s nothing new, lots of interaction with the crowd, puts in a good show but the end was very weird, finishes with Angels obviously but then does a strange A Capella bit that just sort of fizzles out and he walks off the stage, very bizarre.

hello? Is this thing on?
Gigs. All the gigs.
To catch up.....I saw Pulp at Finsbury Park, didnt i? Positives. I was sceptical that they might be......well, shit. They wern't. Not at all. And seeing Candida there was bloody lovely. Negatives....without going on too much.....Festival Republic? Meet piss up in a brewery. Go on, fuck that up an all. We got there whilst Baxter Dury was on. Decided to go to toilet first. That was the first 30 minute queue. We split up, as some of us wanted merch and some of us wanted drinks. Bar queue? 30 minutes. Then joined the merch quere where the merch buyers were STILL queueing. For 45 minutes in total. Meant we only heard Wet Leg from a distance. It's fucking event planning 101! Have enough bars (SURELY you want some of that sweet, sweet bar receipt money? Guess what? put more bars in = more people can buy beers = more money!) and bogs!
Also.....Pulp wern't as good as 1998, were they?
5 days after that, I saw HEll Is For HEroes in Bedford. The same venue I saw them in over 20 years ago. They were great, although only played for a short time.
Day after THAT I saw Hundred Reasons at my bloody ruddy local. I......fell in love with them. I always liked them, just not......loved them. In my local, I got it. Fucking ace.
Next is Deer Shed for me, then I have a free ticket for a free Ditz gig in London 2 days after then.......

i've got a bit of catching up to do with this thread also.
since i last posted i have seen...
a manchester tribute night featuring the smiths presumably, oaysis and the total stone roses. it was exactly the same as when i went last year and ridiculous amounts of fun.
loop - maybe not quite as good as i'd hoped but still a hell of a racket.
the wedding present - they just get better and better
arctic monkeys - i was on crutches and not in the best of moods. it wasn't as good as i'd hoped and the hives in support blew them away.
paul weller - brilliant as always
iggy pop/blondie/generation sex/stiff little fingers and buzzcocks at dog day afternoon - brilliant day out and some great performances given the average age on stage must have been at least 96. iggy still has it.
next up i have a day ticket to a little festival called latitude where i will be seeing some of my favourite bands including pulp, dry cleaning and yard act.

While most of you were watching Pulp I was in a horrible concrete edifice in north London but RHCP were brilliant, in almost 40 years of gigging no guitarist has ever moved me as much as John Frusciante did last Friday night.

since my last post here i went to latitude. it was good.
i then saw miles kane in norwich. i didn't used to like him but have enjoyed the last couple of albums. a very short but banging set.
i then got given a free ticket for one of those cheesey 80s retro festivals that i would normally stay well clear of. i went along because happy mondays were there who are obviously ace but ended up having a great day all round. as well as happy mondays i saw neville staple, the farm, marc almond and heaven 17.
friday i went to all points east. i saw the strokes, yeah yeah yeahs, the walkmen, hotwax, warmduscher, feet, julie and angel olsen. sound for the strokes was shit and ruined it. angel olsen was the big standout.
monday i went to sandringham to see the who supported by richard ashcroft and lightning seeds. gig of the year so far. sound was so loud for an outdoor gig that it made up for the terrible transport infrastructure getting in and out of the venue.
i now have covid and will retire from gigs for a while.

Moribund.
That is what this forum is.
Im seeing Esben & the Witch tomorrow. I am silly excited. So much so that I don't care its in a venue ive never been to in 'trendy' hackney, where I will stick out like an electric vehicle being sold before 2030 (little bit of politics, eh).
Then......it gets very busy for this ol' mozzie G. Do nothing! Treeboy & Arc! Tigercub/James & The Cold Gun! The St Pierre Snake Invasion! The pitchfork multivenue thingy (mostly for Just Mustard)! Corey Taylor! (dont ask....)/BDRMM! Clt Drp! AND....David Devant and is mother fucking Spirit Wife!!!
Just need train fares now.....

Last weekend saw Space on the Friday. Great show, brilliant frontman. Lots of fun.
Then on Sunday had a matinee which was different! Was the Routes doing their The Twang Machine in full, another great fun event, surf rock Kraftwerk covers with great support from The Tridents.

SO....Espen & the Witch was a bit bloody special! Next for me is Do Nothing on Friday. I actually think the 'debut' album is a bit patchy. But, as long as they play SOME old, it will be grand.

SO......Do Nothing was NOT grand. Due to the sound at the Koko being utter dogshit. Again. I figured, since I hadn't been there since the fire and the rebuild, that it might have improved. Nope. All vocal and drums. NOTHING else! SO disappointing. IT was also about a quarter full. Still, first support Humour were good. Opus Kink.......wern't.
On Wednesday, I am BACK in LAAAHNDAAAAHN TAAAAAHN to see Treeboy & Arc. Which im looking forward to a lot!

Hello.
In my undying quest to go to gigs that are poorly attended, last Wednesday I saw Treeboy & Arc at the moth club, London. Support were bloody/bath (who were REALLY good. much more rock-y than on the spotifys) and Bo gritz (who i thought were great! Kinda sonic youth playing Can? Krautgrunge?). And Treeboy & Arc were SO good. Incendiary and vital. Go check them out, yeah?
Next, I have 3 gigs in 8 days. Like it's the 90s. Although not so much as they are ALL at my bloody lovely local and not in the corners of London. I got Clt Drp on Friday (27th) which is a halloween special 'regression session' thing. With ball pits. Inflatables. I feel it might be ker-RAZY! (and not in a good way. I am 48.). Day after, I got unpeople/james and the cold gun/Tigerclub. Then, the following Friday (3rd Nov), I got The St Pierre Snake Invasion.

And here is another instalment of 'Moz goes to some gigs and then types a thing about them).
Clt Drp were immense. The 'regression session' thing was a bit of a damp squib, as it was NOT busy (because the people of milton keynes are philistines). But they were great. And i CANNOT wait to see them on the 29th. You should see them too. You won't, of course......but you DEFINITELY should.
NExt day, it was the triple bill. Unpeople first, containing members of Press To Meco. I found the Meco lot to be quite unremarkable. Unpeople was better. James & The Cold gun were brilliant. An uncomplicated balls and bits out, pedal to the metal rock out. Only played for half an hour. Felt like 10 minutes. Wham. Bam. Thank you Mam (and men). Tigerclub were good.....although it DID get a little boring after 90 minutes. I think the newer stuff is a bit safe-ish?
AND TSPSI were loud. VERY loud. And great!
I then got very silly afterwards. I'm still off the demon drink currently.
NExt for this guy is the Pitchfork Dalston Takeover (which once was just me rushing to different venues trying to see as much as possible without missing ANY of Just Mustard. But now is me, Partner Moz and 2 pals going down early, getting some food, a few (?) drinks before and then probably just hanging out at Earth. Which will be nice......AND disappointing). 3 days after that, I see Corey Taylor (I have NO enthusiasm for this. Im basically baby sitting my nephew. Still......planting seeds.......). And 2 days after that, Im seeing Linoleum. Again. At My local. Again.
I love my local.

Gigs. I went to the Pitchfork festival thingy. I saw a few good things (Hotline TNT were bloody good! Just Mustard were top as ever, despite monitor issues). But did not have a top time. Firstly, I would have seen more if I'd went on my own (its a bit easier to rush between venues if I didn't have to think about others). Secondly, our mate was going through a tough time personally, so our focus was understandably with her. And thirdly, London crowds can sometimes be UTTERLY shit. It's not a fucking speakeasy bar to catch up! I saw Corey Taylor next. Which was actually quite good. Despite a) being HIGH up in the gods and b) being sober (was a glorified babysitter for nephew), it was a good time. Although it IS a bit of a worry when songs from your band (Slipknot) are INFINITELY better than some of your solo work. I saw Linoleum then. In a 10th full Craufurd. Everyone in Milton Keynes are fucking philistines. They were, as ever, bloody ruddy great. I assume this is it now for their reunion (unless they are at a festival somewhere) as I cannot imagine them even WANTING to play to 30 people. Which would be a shame as I loved them then. And I love them now. (Also, special mention for support Potwash, who was really good!) AND......yesterday, I saw BDRMM in Bedford. Due to having 'a week', I was idly thinking of sacking this off. Im glad I didn't. WHAT a band! I actually think the 2nd album is a bit to subtle on disc. But live they come to life. And the older stuff is all manor of epic. Next, it's Clt Drp again, this time in London. At a venue I have never been to (Lexington). Then, close to xmas, another venue I've never been to (Water Rats) to watch (and I cannot believe I'm saying this) David Devant and his Mother fudging Spirit Wife!!! (I added the mother fudging). Can. Not. Wait.

Can. Not. Wait. The Lexington is probably my favourite venue in London, and certainly my most visited. I had never been to The Water Rats until last week, when a friend of mine was promoting a gig there. Another nice venue, and apparently the first place that Bob Dylan ever played in the UK. At the moment I seem to be stuck in a cycle of alternately 3 gigs one week and none the next. Saw bdrmm at The Scala last Monday, supported by the wonderful Damefrisor. Tuesday was Heartworms at Village Underground, and can't wait to see them again at Rockaway Beach; support was Dogviolet who I'm hoping to catch again sometime. Thursday was Enola Gay at Camden Underworld, a new venue for me, amazing energy in the room, but I still can't understand a single word that Fion (the lead singer) sings. Hopefully all of these acts will be pitching up to at least one of the festivals I've got slated for the summer. And now a blank week before Vlure, House of Women and Opus Kink the following week. PS. I've put some videos of some these gigs up on YouTube on my Born in the Fifties channel.

I think my New Year's resolution is going to be to get to more gigs again. Had a bit of an odd year having moved house in February and being super busy with everything that being in a new house involves - very happy with the year I've had, but it has involved less gigs. Now that we've broken the back of all the decorating, and I've done the really hard work in the garden, I'll have more time and frankly be less tired! I'll also be spending less money on all the new house stuff.....
Still been to quite a few gigs this year, but not as many as usual, so feels like something to work on next year.
Incidentally did go and see Eliza Carthy doing a Christmas folk thing last night. It was ok. Sara loved it though, and that was why we went, so that's good.

Not sure how good it is for disabled access though (thinking of Layla in the futures...). Still, I will be there again, Im sure. Clt Drp were, as ever, fudging ace. And it was noce to see them with a crowd, rather than a few people. ALSO ace were Congratulations! And DDHPW was also ace. Lot's of the songs I know and love. And that is it for 2023. Fuck me, time spins round too quickly. AND slowly. At the same time. ITs confusiong. I have gigs lined up next year. Sprints. Nadine Shah. Ultrasound. Others. Happy new year to anyone who still reads on here. x

2024 so far then...
the go! team at norwich waterfront doing the debut in full - great fun
slowdive at norwich uea - incredible. straight up into favourite gigs of all time territory
the zutons at norwich waterfront - better than i remembered them being
nadine shah at rough trade east - stripped back nature of these gigs really highlight how strong her voice is. stunning as always but a short set left me wanting more

Hello.
Im cutting down on gigs as....well, you know. *EVERYTHING*. So, not including a shite metallica covers band, I've been to 3. TV Priest at 3rd Man Records beginning of Feb. Great band. Shit venue. I have come to the conclusion that Third Man are money grabbing arseholes.
Next was Ultrasound in Mid Feb. With what MIGHT be their last ever gig! A good one to bow out on. Played old b sides. Crowd was a great big love in. All of us singing 'Stay Young' gave be tears in my eyes.
Last night was a local one. At my local. I saw Really Big Really Clever. Kinda like Drenge but less power, more grunge. Good. Second support was Family Dinner. They were from New York. IT was their first ever gig outside the USA. I think they might be successful. They were great, They had the riffs-with-pop-hooks thing down. I liked them a lot.
Next for me is NOT Sprints due to family things. IT will now be Nadine Shah......unless there is an election on the same day. Because the chance to watch those corrupt, inept, self absorbed arseholes get ruined at the ballotbox is too appealing.....
I don't know what has happened to me either...
