If Blockparty and Foals can headline, I think the Manics could probably swing it.

Just got back from HolyHoly with Woody Woodmansey. Was a cracking event until Jay Aston got on stage (him from 80's shockers Gene love Jezebel) at which point it went down hill. Note to any guest vocalist. The odd drop of lyrics may be excused, but to not even know the material.....shocking!

went to tim key's father slutmas last night at the arts theatre on leicester square. obviously it wasnt as polished as his normal shows but was still hilarious and involved a lot more audience interaction/participation. what a man.

The Cure on Monday night at Hammersmith Odeon (or whatever its called now) with my younger daughter. I'm not a big Cure fan, but have always wanted to see them live. They played for about 3 hours, pretty much non-stop apart from the last hour when they kept on wandering off-stage to rack up the encore count. Clearly they were always going to play The Love Cats and Boys Don't Cry, which came in the last encore. 3 hours seemed to go pretty quickly, and all in all a great end to my live music for the year.

I was there on Tuesday. Probably the best Cure set I've seen in my life. All of the Top, and assorted other singles and greatness. I got very excited when it was rumoured they would be doing Latitude, and sadly they did Reading instead. 41 song set - The Cure London 23rd Dec 2014 Seeing them do a "hits" set on the Obelisk would be amazing!

Sadly not enough pennies in the bank account for J Mascis though I'm sure it will be great. I am doing Queen at the O2 next weekend (hence no pennies in the bank account) for my Mums birthday. These Ghosts in Cambridge the week after and John Otway in March

Got a few things coming but not much yet.
Dara O'Briain in St Albans next week with the whole family. Twins have to look over 15 to get in so should be fun seeing how much make up they apply in the hope of looking older!
Alt J at the O2 in about 2 weeks with eldest daughter who is a mad about them. I missed them at Ali Pali, which is a shame, due to travel, so this is my catch up.
Elbow at Hammersmith in Feb.
And later on (can't remember the months) I've got Hozier at the Roundhouse (which could be quite special considering he'll probs be huge by then), Public Sector Broadcasting (can't remember where) and, the one I'm really looking forwards to after not seeing them for over 30 years, ACDC at Wembley (with the twins who are nuts for them).
Watched some footage of ACDC River Plate concert the other day, which got the twins mega excited at the prospect, And Mrs R mega worried that they'll want to go down the front in such a blokey crowd!
Might try to get along to Otway, Cmouse. Haven't seen him for many years so it'll bring back fond memories of following him round Aylesbury pub venues in the early 80's.

so first gig of the year last night with j mascis in cambridge. it was very enjoyable for the most part but some of the longer more wig out songs i found a bit dull live. the support luloc were clearly talented but one of the dullest bands ive ever seen.

i'd half thought i might see you maddix (i did look), didn't it finish sharpish?
thought luluc were best when the guy was - ever so slightly - letting go with a bit more guitar depth. maybe they need percussion. we had them as a sort of cross between civil wars and hints of simon & garfunkel. actually thought they were alright, talented as you say but not startling.
got to disagree with you on J though. i'm definitely not one of the handful of obvious Dino J zealots that were there, but we all really liked the new stuff and thought the longer songs were much better to see live than just hear. he is never going to be the most communicative soul but just seeing his musicianship skills adds so much. if you can't be patient with a guy like that for just an hour and a quarter..

I am sure I've seen reports about it coming to London. But going to see it in Paris might be even more special.

("Very excited by this. everything he does is just great as far as I am concerned.")...you didn't have to grow up in the same town as him! Collected affectations like stamps. Overnight mockney twonk...
