Just bought myself a ticket for Field Day. Only looking at the acts on their line-up who were at End Of The Road this year - Imarhan, Julia Jacklin, Kevin Morby, King Gizzard and the Wizard Lizard, Thee Oh Sees, Whitney - and its already a very strong line-up.

boo hiss. etc.
Whilst I agree that the headliners are a flagpole for the type of year we will be getting, dont forget there is TONS of other stuff to do if you dont dig the headliners, dude.

It's not the lack of other things to do. I just dread the thought of spending the weekend at a festival full of 1975 fans.

But, if the other headliners are better-er (whatever that means), then the 1975 fans will mostly only be around for a day.....maybe....

Raffles calm down!
How many 'fans' do we honestly think the 1975 might have? 472 at most, of which less than 226 are committed. Or should be.

Keep up Dadio. According to The Twins, they are one of the most popular bands at their school, but only with the arsehole* kids
(* my précis for their description btw)

you are confusing "fan" with "have heard on R1 and put one track on Spotify favourites"

That's what Der kidz consider fandom nowadays.
Anyways, the way the world is, I wonder if we will ever get to another festival again....

Ahhhh.......but t'was ever thus................I was beaten up constantly by either Madness or Jam "fans" at school.........Smiths fans were absolute c*nts who wouldn't let anyone else in the common room whilst I was at 6th form.......then we started getting all those fans of variously shit rave music who grabbed hold of you and smeared you with sweat whatever high street you were on (but never seemed to actually go to a rave).......then hoards of aggressive (male) blur fans who became Oasis fans as soon as the mancs won the war.....and on and on and on..........in the 00s they they "loved" Kaiser Chiefs and Bloc Party despite the hundreds of better bands around....... recently its been Vaccines, Bastille....
The history of Cock Rock is a long and not very varied one......have to say I think The 1975 are better than most I've mentioned......and I kinda like what's happening because it may indicate a slight return to music from the dead-head gaming dominance.......just like Madness and the Jam......some of their fans will grow up and start liking something better.

If The 1975 qualify as Cock Rock, then its seems to have gone rather flaccid. And how come this thread has turned into a discussion of the assumed Latitude headliners? On this thread shouldn't we be wowing to the first Green Man announcement (have Early Bird and Blue car park) and be ready to wow - hopefully very shortly - about the first EOTR announcement (also have Early Bird).

I'm actually pretty underwhelmed by Field Day this year, seems to be very much focussed on the Saturday line up from the last 2 years. Yeah, there is a handful of bands I'd like to see, but mostly it is stuff that I really don't care for. May get a ticket if it improves, but probably not as things stand. Green man first announcement is pretty good though! Got the early bird for that when they came out last year.

I'm pretty much 100% the opposite to this - loads of stuff at Field Day to interest me, whereas PJ and Lampchop aside the Green Man line-up looks a bit bland.

At first glance I was a little underwhelmed by GM, but having listened through everything, and considering the stuff I already like, the following stand out as acts I really want to see. PJ Harvey Lambchop Conor Oberst Field Music Fionn Regan Hurray for the Riff Raff Julia Jacklin Sunflower Bean Chris Forsyth and the Solar Motel Band Big Thief Gill Landry Wolf People. Check out a few (if you don't know them already) and see what you think. Wolf People in particular are one of my favourite bands of the last few years - bloody excellent! As one review stated - imagine if Fairport convention were Sabbath fans rather than Dylan.

Well having had my entire EOTR prediction wiped out by Green Man and some very discouraging Sigur Ros dates....I shall try again from scratch.
Woods........Father John Misty, Alabama Shakes and Grandaddy.
Garden... Okkervil River, Lift to Experience and Real Estate.
plus Magnetic Fields, Car Seat Headrest, British Sea Power, Karen Elson, Julien Baker, Jens Lekman, Dawes, Jesca Hoop, Los Campesinos, Lydia Ainsworth and Jonathan Wilson.

Casting around for another festival to help occupy me this summer, I've just noticed that Truck is not the same weekend as Latitude this year. And as its only about an hour's drive away from me, and last year's line-up was a good one, I'm already sorely tempted. No 2017 line-up yet, but it's apparently imminent. Has anyone here been to it in recent years / heard anything about it, etc.

Has anyone here been to it in recent years / heard anything about it, etc. I've never been, but am even more local to it and know lots of people who have been and the feedback is consistently good. You can judge the music from the lineups online, but I like it and I have been tempted in the past, even if I have always ended up elsewhere. People say the atmo is good, with a range of age groups attending. A more local crowd than bigger festivals, so there's a degree of turning up after work on Friday and leaving on Sunday. And cheap compared to Lat. Some online reviews have said the Barn stage, which is literally a barn, can be be too small for some of the acts there, but can't say that puts me off much. In fact I also am contemplating going this year (prolly in addition to Lat, but all in the air at present), so I'd rather you didn't tell anyone about it until I have bought tickets ...
