Can't believe we're a couple of weeks in and this hasn't begun.... Anywho, a suspicious package arrived in the post today, so enigmatic was it, it took me a moment to work out the originator wasn't the Milk Tray Man, but Santa himself, disguised as fiveuke. A CD of Christmas loveliness, it was received with a thrill that lasted longer than last week's Christmas moment, when Oxford St's HMV kidded me for about 10 seconds that it was snowing.
Thank you!
(and those waiting for my offering, I got as far as buying the set of cd-rs today. Progress.)

shit, and i'm only half way through today (and the week) - never felt more like resigning.
i do appreciate i'm extremely lucky and that events in peshawar should make us all think hard about our perceived 'difficulties', but on a micro basis I'm pretty fed up.

SO.....its the annual "pretend its a special day because of the date of it, even though its JUST A DAY just like ANY OTHER DAY" day. Where you are made to feel a pariah if you arn't having 'a good time'. ITs all ridiculous, isnt it? I'd rather stay at home & watch DVD boxsets, i think. Still, once im there in the local (open till 5am tonight/tmrw morning), with a few glasses of wines (hopfully not bad ones), i will be bopping to all the indie/rock 'hits' just like all the young uns. SO, i wish you all a happy new year. And thank you for joining this thing. ITs going all right, isnt it?

It gives me an excuse to let of some fireworks, so that's good enough reason to celebrate for me.

We had fireworks a couple of years ago that were let off in a very small garden. Many went sideways. Much old-fashioned oohs and aahs, ie, real touch of fear running through them! Of course, we would never, ever do it again.
We had an appropriately good Christmas, the usual inverse proportion of effort etc, but short bursts of reality checking reminders of how lucky we all are. And a Bright Eyes CD. Have fun with the frivolities tonight, folks, biggest wishes for a brave and fulfilling new year.

The fireworks were perfect. Only a two and a half minute display but I dug out some of my old gear from when I was "semi pro" and it went down a treat, plus everyone stayed safe!
Feeling remarkably not hung over this morning (but then I didn't really start drinking properly til after midnight due to the fireworks).
Roast duck for lunch with a very nice Haut Medoc. Dry January starts at midnight tonight for me. Boy does my liver need it!
Happy new year everyone!

Well, managed to have the quietest new years I've had in many years.
Pulled a couple back muscles and mildly compressed a lower back vertebrae... New years was a rather quiet night on the pain killers. Also, found out I'm leaving John Lewis end of January so, if anyone knows any jobs in finance anywhere, let me know aha.
Here's hoping this isn't an prelude of what 2015 is going to be like!

I am suffering...
Been worried about night time pains in my torso for last few weeks. I wake up every night at about 4am and can't get back to sleep cos of the pain.
Given my unfortunate incident with my insides a few years back, I have been for a few tests, scans and a camera down the throat into my tum.
The good news is, there's nothing too serious.
The (really) bad news is that I need to lay off the alcohol and indulgent or spicy food completely until it's better. So no wine thread for a while yet, Woody!
Apparently, it is likely to have been due to excessive stress and over indulgence, Wot- me! A stressful and over indulgent lifestyle! Who'd have thought, eh?

Who'd have thought, eh? who would have thought that concerns about whether Alt-J are headlining in 2015 could do that to a bloke? seriously, hope you are better soon. at least it is now enforced abstinence for January....
