I'm not sufficiently interested in US politics and legislature to watch seven series about it. Cowboys, crooks, chinks and cocksuckers though? Brilliant.

I watched a lot of Deadwood while waiting to pass a kidney stone. During the series one of the main characters suffers from a bowel stone and the contemporary treatment for such. Despite the horror it made me feel a little bit better about the whole thing, so Deadwood will also be special

Despite how wanky that sounds...... Totally agree, thats why it took me so long to give it go. American politics = mind numbing boredom. But it's the characters and the scripts are so good that make you want to go back over and over. I recommend it!

The West Wing is indeed pretty fantastic, albeit total liberal fantasy.
We've started watching Spiral, which is pretty ace so far, but having just started the second series are slightly concerned that it doesn't really seem to follow on from the first. Most of the plot has been scrapped and some of the characters seem to have changed personalities...

Been enjoying "Legacy". I love the way the Danes are so nice to each other even when they are at family war! But it's probably dragged on two or three episodes too many. 6 parts would have been better than 10.
Loving Wolf Hall. Especially the lighting. People how complain about them filming with natural candlelight are f***ing idiots. The scene last week where Cromwell's sister-in-law was snuffing out the candles one by one was probably unnoticed by many due to its subtlety but really quite delightful.
I am waiting til we've finished watching Legacy before we start on "Fortitude".
But the best is yet to come!!

So two very bad things on TV right now. But one is almost in the “so bad it’s good” category, whereas the other is simply “bad”.
First the simply bad. “Fortitude”: WTF. It’s the TV equivalent of a late 70’s early 80’s supergroup. You know the sort of thing. Hey, what do get if you take half of Genesis and half of Yes and put them together. Err- Asia. Doh!
So you can just imagine the Sky committee meeting. Let’s take a little bit of “Fargo” remote town quirkiness, throw in a little bit of “Lost” mystery, add an enigmatic Dale Cooper from Twin Peaks visiting detective, and, just for good luck, we’ll use that woman who wears the woolly jumpers in The Killing and say “Tak” a lot and hope some of the scandi-drama zeitgeist rubs off. Oh- but isn’t there something missing. Ah yes, we need a hot Latin babe with no credible reason for being there other than to let middle aged men touch her downstairs occasionally, just in case anyone’s interest wains.
Result- a complete mess. Sky Atlantic have brought us some of the best TV in recent years, but this one is a complete turkey. (And don’t even get me started on the inaccurate diurnal cycle. You’d hardly ever get complete darkness and bright daylight in the same day that far north).
And so to the “so bad it’s good”. “A Casual Vacancy”, the new Sunday night adaptation of JKR’s first, so called, grown up book. Bl**dy hell it’s hilarious. I don’t know where to start. All I can say is that if Charlie Brooker decided to make a complete p!ss take of a quintessential BBC Sunday night adaptation, he couldn’t have done better. So go on. Watch it. You know you shouldn’t but I found it laugh out loud funny.
PS: Wolf Hall continues to be easily the best thing on TV right now. I’m going to miss it when it’s finished.

Wow
WOW
WOW Restored my faith in Sky after the "Fortitude" debacle. One of the tensest, most compelling hour's TV I've seen in ages. Hope they can keep it up.

Wolf Hall may not be all things to all people (my Catholic outlaws are apoplectic) but it is beautifully shot. Every scene could have been a Holbein.

But.....'Critical' was ALWAY gonna be great, coming from the creative mind of Cardiac Arrest & the BRILLIANT 'Bodies' (the ONLY think Keith Allen has done that he has been good in. FACT!). AND 'Line of Duty' (which i havent seen yet. But am reliably informed is Quallo). HOUSE OF CARDS!!! Season 3 is out. Unfortunately, i cant start to watch it till Sunday.......

Anyone brave enough to watch/admit to watching Cucumber? Pretty good, altho I can't recommend the binge-watching I did yesterday. Couldn't sleep last night after the most recent episode. Thwack-slosh-blipvertsofhislife. Who needs Botox? My eyebrows are permanently up now.

I finished Series 3 of House OF Cards (US) yesterday. I was kinda worried at the beginning. As........how do i describe this without giving it away?!?! Er......ok. I thought maybe, the situation that Frank Underwood is in in series 3 isnt AS interesting as the one he is in in series 2 (he says criptically?!?). BUT......my word......This series, i think, you dont now have a sneaky likening of Mr Underwood. You really start to dislike him. And Lars Mikkelsen (playing the president of Russia) is BRILLIANTLY scene stealing & over the top.

Nope, not even a little bit, just no, hush it up.
There will be NO bad-mouthing of Sue Perkins, esp not right now. That woman has been the subject of death threats from the Top Gear twattery, just for not being a bloke. Enough, she's obviously a huge fan, that should be sufficient.
As someone wise said, If you can't say something nice, don't say nothing at all.

She's more than welcome to Top Gear.
But they've ruined Thronecast. Where's Elio and Linda? It's nothing without them! There's more than enough Sue Perkins on TV to go round, but there's nowhere else you can see Elio and Linda!
