So if we all end up going to EOTR will there be a "not the end of the road forum forum get together"?

anyone know when the stage splits tend to get announced? my concern at the moment is how many horrific clashes there will be. i know stage times will be announced much closer but wondering when stage splits start to come through so you can at least estimate clashes using clashfinder etc Looking at the edit history on the last 2 year's Clashfinders, I would say about mid-May for Stage splits.

talk to me about end of the road people. whats it like, pros and cons, how does it compare to latitude etc. i dont need convincing on the lineup as for me it's near perfect, just all the other stuff to make the travel worthwhile/convince mates to go. Pros (with Latitude comparison in mind): Garden Stage is the best place to watch music that I know of The festival is pretty much hassle free, security is minimal (just wrist band checks, and doesn't need to be any more than that) No problem taking drinks/food anywhere provided no glass involved, and good selection of real ales, ciders etc available Much smaller than Latitude (I think its 14k, but that includes all the staff, etc) Arsehole content close to zero (people tend to be there to listen to the music, not to 'do' a festival) Site is compact, so easy to move between stages You can camp within a couple of minutes walk of the main stage if you choose to (and a number of us do) Best loos of any festival Decent showers Pretty much all the food stalls are good ones, and they're almost all in one area. Live music on the Thursday night on 2 stages Best festival that I know of Cons: Can be pretty cold at night Er..... that's it.

Not an exact science, but clashes are kept to a minimum.

Gah, quoted the wrong post, this should have been in response to BITF post stating how great it is.

The Stage splits aren't announced till one month before the festival (clashfinders were based on pure guesses). They then release an official clashfinder one week before (nice in that it has all the band times in one printable place - tho to be fair doesn't usually include comedy and films)
Films start earlier than noon - but they are the only thing.
mainstages end at 11......but the the Bigger tent goes on just past midnight......and bands get invited to play extra sets in in the smaller tent until around 3am. There's an indie disco (on a boat in the woods) and a silent disco on the phenomenally beautiful Garden stage......both till 3am I think.
I once timed myself.....and I walked from my tent to every stage and back to my tent in 9 minutes.......yes it was in the morning, so all stages empty and yes I can walk very very fast...................but 9 minutes to circle the whole arena!
Talking of that arena........you can take your own booze in. You might not want to so much, because the selection is fab.....but you can, which can really cut down costs........and because its so near, you can pop back and forth.....so no hiding and no lugging.

Does EOTR tend to sell out and if so, roughly when?

It does usually sell out but not till August. They are also good at letting people know when there are (say) 500 tickets left, etc.
Oh and I do (sort of) run a (sort of) Billy Loadsa Mates spin off (End of the Road - Happy Campers on facebook).
And there is generally a get-together in the Tipi Bar on the Thursday evening.

Maddix, I'd echo everything that Bitf has posted there. If I had to choose just one festival, this would be it. It's been my number one since first going in 2010.
Some things I'd add:
You asked about late / stuff going on: EOTR is FAR better, with a big top band usually at 11pm, then tipi tent bands (not much bigger than alcove) through 3am.
The artists LOVE being at EOTR. The barrier between bands and punters is much more low key and you get to natter to loads of the bands around site.
Food and drink is FAR superior, cheaper and you can take your own if you want.
The Garden Stage is utterly beautiful, as if Sunrise had been poshed up for the Queen. They trust you with gorgeous surrounding heritage architecture, it's stunning as a gig location.
Sound quality has gone up dramatically in the past couple of years, it's really very good.
The location, Cranborne Chase, is also quite wonderful. You are high on chalk downland (yes, gets cold!) with views to New Forest. The landscape has a timeless feel, with many surrounding Anglo Saxon sites. There is real atmosphere to the journey through Salisbury and these old lands. It's magical.
I am pissed off beyond belief that friends have a wedding that weekend, as regardless of lineup I'd go to this just to sit with a beer and listen to Geof singing.

* takes notes quietly, in hopes of the NHS still being in place (therefore still being employed) so possibly able to afford EOTR*
Was listening to you-know-who (had a beard, still a very good musician without) today and realising I really ought to try & see him again....

I've been listening through the lower order of EOTR the last couple of days, and I like pretty much every band on the line up. We are 99% definitely getting a ticket.

Us too (though have had our tickets for a while) - now seriously worried about clashes as it would be easier to list the handful of acts we don't like.
Plus given the views above our first EOTR promises to be a good one

Green Man has the best line-up this year. Give me Ryan Adams over Mac DeMarco anyday.

I once saw Ed Sheeran in a pub in Ipswich with 20 other people, now he's headlining Glastonbury.
I know he's not for everyone but hell, what a story.

Yeah, redid my sums the other day and there are 58 acts at EOTR I want to see. I know the stages are close together but that is going to be some ask!

Tickets on sale end of the week. I really like 'em, but wondered whether or not Patrick Watson, Moses Sumney or Niara Scarlett might make an appearance. I see Goldfrapp are playing there (again) too.
