well the EOTR line-up seems pretty much complete and I've listened to everything at least twice.....Not nearly as good for me as Latitude - and very much bottom-heavy....these are the acts I'm most looking forward to seeing: 1) Dr Dog 2) Anderson East 3) Karl Blau (if the rest of the album is as good as Fallin' Rain) 4) Margo Price 5) The Shins 6) Teenage Fanclub 7) Bill Ryder-Jones 8) Basia Bulat 9) Steve Mason 10) Eleanor Friedberger 11) Slow Down, Molasses Other than that I have 19 other acts that I'd like to see (to some degree or another) and a further 31 "might be alrights".....which leaves only 26 acts that I would actively avoid. So overall a "bloody good" but feels very odd. 61 acts I'd be happy to see but not a single one I would have chosen at the beginning of the year. Geof....You forgot Knightmare live!!!! THE FUNNIEST THING i have EVER seen at ANY festival! EVER! And it returns to Dorset!

Laura Marling has just been announced as the last headliner for this year's Green Man. She's joined Belle and Sebastian and Jason Isbell as acts that are really tempting me to go.

As I might have mentioned a few times, we're off to Green Man this year. The smaller acts on the line up are fantastic, have had a trawl through on youtube and there is gold in them there mountains. Psychedelic rock? Check Jangly female vocal stuff? Check The Besnard Lakes? Check (I bloody love the Besnard Lakes)

The EOTR playlist is finished. open.spotify.com/user/ethereal-omega/playlist/5ajQOGvY9zffn6AKPDzMB2I have 13 must sees, 35 want to sees, 31 meh and only 8 I'll actively avoid. As with Geof, most of the good stuff is in the undercard. My top 10 are as follows; 1: Martha 2: The Shins 3: Bat For Lashes 4: The Big Moon 5: Steve Mason 6: Savages 7: King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard 8: Hard Skin 9: Flamingods 10: Arrows Of Love

As its less than a month away now, I’ve begun to do some listening for Field Day. I’m only going on the Sunday, and it’s clearly going to be a horrific clash fest. Having ruled out anyone who is playing at any other festival I’m going to this summer, I’ve got this top 10 (even though I can’t see how you fit seeing 10 into a day) : • Arthur Beatrice • Ben Watt Band • Brian Jonestown Massacre • Mbongwana Star • Moon Duo • Mystery Jets • P J Harvey • Parquet Courts • Shearwater • Tangerines (first reserves are currently Beach House)
So who else is going? Saturday and/or Sunday? And are we going to be bumping into each other at any of the above?

i'm there on the sunday too. doing neil young at the 02 on the saturday.
it's a totally stunning bill and whilst i've seen most of my favourites acts from the bill before it's still going to be a nightmare deciding who to watch when the times get announced. main priorities for me are pj harvey, brian jonestown massacre, the avalanches, steve mason, parquet courts and thurston moore. if i could somehow manage to see all of them i'd be over the moon. mbongwana star would have been on that list too but im seeing them in norwich a couple of days after field day. i'm seeing adam green in norwich this week too and saw mystery jets the other week so can sacrifice them if need be. would also like to see goat, air and fat white family but its clearly not all going to happen!

Also expecting many clashes but I'd like to see:
Avalanches PJH Ben Watt Air Fat White Family Steve Mason Thurston Moore
Will see John Grants and Goat of no clashes but happy to skip on this occasion
I realise I will defo have some clashes above but the PJH vs Avalanches would be a nightmare clash as they are my two absolute must sees.
Went of Parquet Courts after their last attitude perfomance

You'll poss bump into me for Moon Duo, BJM, Mystery jets, Parquet courts, Shearwater, PJ Harvey. Will also hope to watch the Avalanches, Beach House, Goat, Fat White Family, Psychemagik, Steve Mason, Thurston Moore. Actually seeing Moon Duo 2 days before in Norwich, but my other half won't be there for that so def watching at Field Day too as one of my favourite bands. Mega intense live too! As you say, poss going to be a clash fest. Will base clash decisions on who I might see at Green Man as there are a few that are there too.

So Forgotten Fields is cancelled (see below). I had it down as a possible festival for this summer, following positive comments from a number of people about last year, but found this year's line-up had very little to get me excited. Does rather raise questions though about how many other festivals are struggling to sell their tickets, particularly as a lot of the line-ups seem to be a bit below par this year.
"Dear festival goers,
We are hugely saddened to let you know that Forgotten Fields 2016 is no longer going ahead.
It’s with heavy hearts that we let you know news of this cancellation and would like to thank you for your support of the event.
Due to the rising costs of producing a quality event of this size, we are unable to produce a show that is of the standard both our team and customers would be proud of.
After thorough consideration of the event and exhausting all options we have sadly reached this conclusion. It was an exceptionally difficult decision to make and hasn’t been taken lightly.
We had a truly amazing time and weekend to remember in 2015, lifelong memories shared with lovely people in the fields, and we wish all the festival goers and team well for the coming festival season.
Yours regretfully,
The Forgotten Fields Team"

And, apart from Suede and The Hives, Standon Calling has a horrible line-up.

Honestly I'm not surprised about Forgotten Fields.
We went last year and whilst there were some good things about it (fairly good line up, near to home for is, decent beer / cider, etc) it had some definite problems.
From an organisation viewpoint it was pretty poor: - poor signage to site - massively under sized area for camping - total lack of campsite facilities - lack of catering outside of arena - arena was long & narrow which was odd
There were also rumours that it was going to be closed down as they sold a lot of day tickets so was over subscribed
Obviously all of this can be sorted but the main issue was lack of atmosphere - think they wanted the South London / Brighton crowd but got the Tonbridge Wells crowd - felt a bit like an English Summer picnic that someone was rudely interrupting with music

So I went to The Great Escape in that Brighton a couple of weekends ago (apols for the late report, I then went on holiday in Austria for a week and a bit...)
It was good fun. Basically it feels like a whole weekend at the lake stage, or maybe the alcove, but indoors, interspersed with sitting on the pier eating chips.
The bands I saw were: Have You Ever Seen the Jane Fonda Aerobic VHS - Energetic Electro scuzzy pop from Finland in a sweaty basement holding maybe 100 people. Good fun. Declan McKenna - Forgettable singer-songwriter that I've forgotten about Beach Baby - Indierock by numbers Bleached - Brilliant Riot Grrrrl influenced trio. One of the highlights of the weekend. Xylaroo- Charming folk duo from Papua New Guinea Wyvern Lingo - 3 irish girls playing american college rock. I enjoyed. LCMDF - Finland's answer to Niki and the Dove. Very Pop. Girli - More electro pop, catchy hooks. Drones Club - A little bit KLF is never a bad thing. Pounding grooves. Coves - More girl fronted indie rock. I enjoyed, but not as much as the album. Black Peaches - Reminded me a little of Santana. I really enjoyed them, some of my friends hated them. Man & The Echo - Excellent band, with hints of Squeeze and Pulp. Another highlight Lusts - Unremarkable indie. Holly Macve - Nice country-folk, but nothing to make her stand out from the crowd. Jambinai - South Korea's answer to GY!BE. An unexpected highlight. DOOMSQUAD - More electro rock. Good enough, but nothing special.
So there you go. I will definitely be looking out for Drones Club at Latitude, and am going to see Man and the Echo in London soon after, so in terms of finding some new bands to enjoy, job done.

Field Day Sunday line-up : ugh!
2 three-way clashes to sort out; firstly Parquet Courts vs. Tangerines vs. Arthur Beatrice, and then BJM vs Ben Watt vs Mbongwana Star. And also Moon Duo or Shearwater. Other clashes resolved by seeing the likes of Thurston Moore and John Grant at other fests.
Hope to see some of you inside, but if anyone is turning up earlish and fancies a drink, I'll be in the Crown on the roundabout by the entrance to the park from about 11:30 until just after midday. Hopefully my ears will have recovered by then from a good blast of Neil Young on Saturday night.

Absolute must see for me is Tangerines, and will then migrate quickly to the next door stage for the second half of Parquet Courts, whose new album I'm playing a lot right now. Also liking Arthur Beatrice's new album, so hopefully they'll do some more live dates to support it. Mbongwana Star also not to be missed.

One of my favourite bands! Look out for me there, I look a lot like my profile pic and will be there with the fine lady next to me.
