I went both days this year. Sunday was better than Saturday. But both days had levels of shittiness, mostly due to the crap crowd who chat through acts and seem only to be there to 'be seen'. However....Sunday looks VERY good.....

I went both days this year. Sunday was better than Saturday. But both days had levels of shittiness, mostly due to the crap crowd who chat through acts and seem only to be there to 'be seen'. However....Sunday looks VERY good..... I've been to Field Day about 4 times and enjoyed it every time. The line-up always seems to be excellent, with loads of live gems to be discovered (e.g. Ex Hex this year), and at less than 50 quid for a day, its good value. While I completely agree with Moz's comments about the overly high *rsehole content in the crowd, the general vibe is fairly relaxed, and the size/layout of the site mean for the numbers it seldom feels overly full. I'm certainly happy to thoroughly recommend it. Update : Just bought my ticket for the Sunday (£46.65 all-in).

Think I'm going to have to give EOTR a miss this year due to excessive travel so maybe will do Field Day instead. But probs just Sunday

Realign line up looks like it's shaping up to be pants again. Not that I care- can't ever really see me gain back there.
At least they have a female band (Hinds) on the first announcement this year after last year's misogynistic line up.

Yeah, RHCP suck.
More importantly, Camp Bestival have announced Dick & Dom and Mr Tumble. Awesome.

And Mac Demarco, it really is about time he worked his magic at Henham.
Go on, Melvin, you know you want to.

Going to Folk East.
I both very much enjoy it but simultaneously wouldn't recommend it to any seasoned festival goer.
Immaculate camping, ridonculously cheap super-early tickets and £3 a pint for four days however makes it unmissable. Take away the entire festival and wear ear defenders - its still the cheapest, nicest accommodation anywhere remotely near the Suffolk coast in August!

Fiveuke is that the one at the lovely old Hall, with just as lovely old trees, you drive past somewhere north of Woodbridge en route to Henham?

Have discussed it with the family and agreed today. I will be limiting myself to just Latitude this year.
But the trade off is I am going to the Rio Paralympic* games. I think that's fair enough!
(*Olympics is stupid expensive but Paralympics means I still get to visit all the venues I worked on and can still have a good time in the samba bars without being overcrowded and over expensive)

....and will Mrs Raffles be restricting herself to just Latitude this year, or will she be coming to join the Sunday morning EOTR Happy Campers 'chat' in your place?

Fiveuke is that the one at the lovely old Hall, with just as lovely old trees, you drive past somewhere north of Woodbridge en route to Henham? Yup. They always do something arty with the big bare tree by the road. You can camp next to everyone or find a spot all by your own. The facilities etc... are great, as is the food and drink (and prices). On the downside, for most people, it's folk. And not the top tier of Folk that you get at Cambridge. Still, it's more about the sessions and jams really, then a bit of Peatbog Faeries, Unthanks, that kind of thing. If you have children who like crafty stuff (pottery, film-making, blacksmithing, cookery etc...) then it's a fun, safe place for them, and good party for you (with the seaside just down the road). But it's not Latitude by any stretch!

Need to buy my Field Day Tickets
They have VIP tickets for about £18 extra which give access to hospitality and (most of all) VIP toilets!
I know I should be ashamed of myself; it's not very rock n roll (and I know Fiveuke would defo not approve!) but I am trying to get Mrs Raffs into the festival vibe and it might help!
Has anyone tried them before? Any thoughts?

My FB reply was : Not tried it, and not sure I would even if I was given a free pass for it. The facilities at Field Day are fine and you'll miss enough music even without checking out the prawn sandwiches. Although Moz, if you are contemplating the upgrade, I assume you must have had some issues last year. Do tell.
