More than a little excited for the EOTR line up announcement tomorrow…… I'll be honest, that's not a line up that has me looking to see if I can wangle a trip to eotr this year. Just to add, not looking to piss on anyones matches, just not much there that hugely appeals to me. Hopefully Caitlin Rose will pop up at green man though!

IF anyone is around the Bedford area on the 10th of June, Esquires are doing the third instalment of Ceremony, their all day festival thingy. Missed number 2, but went to the 1st and had an absolute blast. AND its only £20 pounds quid nicker. For a (in my opinion) top quality line up...so far.
Me and Manda are going. Maybe you should to?

That's pretty much my take. I like it, quite a bit, but I don't love it. Not yet anyway.

First look doesn’t have me weeping that we don’t have tickets - as you say solid but not overly exciting.
Would have like to have seen Devo………….30 years ago.

HELLO!!! If anyone is still lurking on these pages.... I bought a ticket for Visions this year. Happening on the 22nd of July. To be honest, I bought it so I can see Just Mustard again, but there is lots more on. www.visionsfestival.com/But......due to 'factors', I can no longer go. As it's with Dice, they wont let me get a refund on it till its sold out. However, if you are on Dice too, I can flog it to you. I paid £25 which was an early bird price. I will sell it for £20. Yes. £20. For Just Mustard, Spiritualized AND Scalping! AND lots more! What a bloody ruddy bargain! If yr interested, do DM me. Thanks. EDIT - THESE ARE NOW GONE. ALREADY.

Hey All,
I have a Glastonbury related question / wild punt (I know, sorry 😂) but I thought one of you good friends on here may have some insight…
We are going to try and get the first Wednesday train from Frome to Castle Cary this year, has anyone done this before? As we are wondering if we’ll even get on the train?! Its the same as first Bristol service, but we will beat the first from London,
Cheers Guys x

I think it will depend on how many people try to get on at Frome... usually all the early trains from Bristol are sold out and packed ...I would definitely have a plan B in mind..if you can't get on you could try the free bus from shepton mallet if that's possible I personally haven't used the train to the festival recently get a coach so hopefully it might be absolutely fine 🌞

Blimey! Im so behind! SO....a brief synopsis on what I've done.
On the 27th & 28th, I went to Portals festival. I was apprehensive with the move to eARTH, a venue I didnt like. I shouldn't have been. There was a few niggles, but soundwise and atmos wise, it was spot on. Best things I did see were And So I Watch You From Afar (natch), GGGOLDDDD, El Moono and Ef.
On the 10th of June I was at Ceremony 3, an all dayer at Esquires. I also saw Born In the 50s (before the bands sucked him in) AND, in a blast from the past, Giddy (one for the old skool forumers....ask yr dads). A nice time was had by all. Highlights were Treeboy & Arc and Junodef.
This saturday, Im seeing Pulp. At Finsbury Park. 25 years after I saw them at Finsbury park. One assumes they WONT play Help The Aged. Then, a week on Thursday, Im seeing Hell Is For HEroes. At Esquires. 20 years after I saw them in Esquires.
I only watch things I saw 20+ years ago now.

Hello! Here is some #content
So....we came back yesterday from Deer Shed (left early due to Mrs Moz being really unwell with the user cold I got a few days before). Here are some thoughts.
Blimey. There are LOTS of kids! I mean....I knew it was family friendly. But that does not even cover it. Its more a glorified summer fete with 3 stages of bands added in. If you like your festival with as few kids as possible, you will be sorely disappointed. I would avoid this like the plague (which, I assume, kid haters think kids are like. A swarm of 'aaarrrggghhhh').
We went because we are skint. And we could get a free carers ticket for one of us (which is a good point to direct you to the vast array of vinyl and cds available at The Better Dog on eBay...). The site is pretty and spaced out without it seeming 'big'. It NEVER felt crowded. EVERYONE was super friendly. And I mean EVERYONE. Maybe we got lucky, but it was so strange not to encounter one arsehole. Which was lovely.
If you have a kid, there was utterly tons to do. Mostly free. We all love disc golf now. And we have all manor of crafted things now cluttering up our house. And, due to mini moz's disabilities, she couldn't do half of the stuff a child could do. Tree climbing. Wild swimming. Water sports. Weird homemade climbing frame thing where you help build the thing with pallets type thing. And more.
No corporate alcohol. Was gonna try more of the ciders. But, to be honest, the Beouwolf Lager was SO good. So stuck to that.
Anyone notice that?!? The 'but' coming?!?
BUT.....
we still go to festivals for the music. And...I saw some great stuff (Ditz are on fire at the moment. And Sprints were incendary). But the crowds were......odd. Very.......appreciate but stationary. And, for the most part, sparse. Like, we saw headliner Public Service Broadcasting on main stage Saturday. But the crowd was TINY. Think....second band on at Green Man main stage. People wandering around. Only a few dedicated to watching the music. It wasn't a 'music festival with stuff'. It was a predominantly kids weekend away with some music. The balance wasn't right for us.
Also.....camper chairs and trolleys/wagons were allowed everywhere. Trying to go to the toilet through a crowd at night was....challenging.
Food was expensive, average but edible. Toilets were average.
Might add more if I remember more. Gutted to miss Delgados but will make sure to watch them at Green Man (which, I suspect, with a far more appreciative crowd). I think, whilst not COMPLETELY dismissing it, we would only go again if the headliners were someone we'd REALLY wanna see. And, whilst getting a free ticket is nice, kid moz's ticket is still £70 (admittedly she can do a lot for that price...). And it cost us a lot in petrol. If we were closer, it might be worth considering more....
Yeah. Is this on interest? I dunno.

OK. So....this is just me talking to myself. But....I sometimes use this as a reference to events I've been to before.
SO.....saturday, I went to Multitude. An all dayer at my local with bands you might have heard of. It was £13 so dirt cheap. Cheaper for us too, as we could go hone for a bit of scran before watching mire bands, bands, bands.
Best things I saw personally were Ciel, Bex and DSM IV. I unfortunately drank too much and felt rough the day after.
Also there was Born In The 50s. Which is very strange, seeing Stephen in my bloody local. Still....se was pleased I had made a clashguide. Which was nice.
AND......my fucked ankle was less fucked. I mean.....it LOOKED worse. VERY purple. But felt better (with strapping).
Next? It's only bloody ruddy Green Man!

Looking at Standon Calling for a change next year. Anybody have any experience of this? I've been for single days as it's 10 mins up the road from me. Annoyingly for the last few years it's clashed with Latitude so we've been unable to go. It used to be the last weekend of July but they moved it forward. Anyway, it's a really nice festival, almost a mini Latitude I'd say in terms of the family atmosphere. Dogs are allowed too which is cool! The lineup tends to be very eclectic but we've always found plenty to see. I saw Idles there for the first time on a tiny stage. I spoke to a few people who went this year and they did say that the site was very busy this year.

Green Man was top then, obviously. Even the plentiful rain on Friday couldn't dampen spirits - especially as the weather was glorious for the rest of the weekend. Great to properly catch up with quite a few off here too.
Top 5 musical highlights:
Squid - just mesmerising live, and on a bigger stage than I've seen before the thump and drive was just epic. Lankum - I appreciate that on record they may be hard work for some people, but on the main stage they were just magnificent, and to a very big crowd too. Amyl and the Sniffers - bloody hell. That sort of music, performed in that manner, on a big stage to a big crowd, was genuinely good for the soul. Bob Vylan - Possibly not for everyone, but imagine RATM meets the Prodigy on a London estate, and you're not far out. Huge set with a huge reaction from the crowd. Slowdive - you all know the drill with Slowdive, and they did it very well!
Stacks of other great sets over the weekend, but those 5 really stood out for me.
Musical lowlights (from bands we hoped to enjoy)
First Aid Kit - crikey. We only lasted 20 minutes, but it was bland squared. The performance, the staging, the new songs, just everything. We'd hoped for something similar, as a performance, to when Father John Misty played a headline set with an expanded band a few years back, which blew us away. It was very much not that. Our FAK loving mates texted us about the same time we bailed to say they were bailing too. Have seen great sets from them in the past, so not a case of just not liking them. The Orielles - have seen them a few times and enjoyed every time, including earlier this year. But this was plodding - none of the disco indie energy you'd hope for at all. Maybe they tailored their set as were first on and decided to keep it lower key? It was a mistake. Les Savy Fav - A band unknown to me before seeing the lineup, and I like everything I'd heard, but it was a shambles. Summed up by the distracting site of the visuals being someone repeatedly trying (and failing) to connect to a zoom call, then badly navigating multiple browsers to play gifs as a backdrop. The vocal mix for a few bands in Far Out was ropey/quiet which put a dampener on a few otherwise excellent sets.

I also did a Green Man too. And a grand ol' week was had by all. Got to chat for an hour or 2 at camp to the ubiquitous 50s and riverlodge (FINALLY managing to hug the man who helped in 2016.), ethereal and sue (who couldn't remember her avatar name. Still, she gave me an 'el diablo' cocktail). Later on had a LOVELY chat with OAPdub who is a lovely man. Even if he IS wrong about Bob Vylan. RATM? More like a 'woke' Limp Bizzzzzzzzzzzzkit. ;p
Highlights in no order.
Crows. Obviously. I love this band. Seemed like a 'last day of term' gig. Full on. Ace. AND so good to hear new stuff too.
Delgados. PLaying to a sparse crowd (It was rain friday. And it was about to get biblical...), which was a shame. The songs were as sublime as they were in the late 90s/early 2000s. I would have liked more from debut record domestiques. But Im a ponce.
Gently Tender. Was my partners must see of the weekend. On record, was a wee bit too........twee? Live they were really bloody good!
The sound of laughter of my kid going down the helter skelter. I should have recorded it, looped it and added a beat. Will never tire from it (which is ironic, considering how tiring it was to help her climb all those bloody stairs to get to the top!)
Wrexham Lager. yum.
The Gyoza stall. double yum.
The staff at the viewing platform at Far out (I assume they were ALL great. We only used the platform there though). Kid got a wristband to use them this year. And it really enhanced her festival, I think. She watched more music than she usually does. And the staff were very helpful and friendly throughout. To be honest, ALL the accessibility team are great all year round.
Shepherd's Toffee & Honeycomb ice cream. Yum with sprinkles.
Tarot. Sketch comedy. Will. NEVER. die! Hilarious. too short a set, due to the bloody burning of the big green man.
The emergency medics who not only had a fridge for kids meds but also provided a clean sterile place to administer said meds. One of those days, it was on an actual ambulance! (the only very minor blot on the accessibility team is the fact there is NOWHERE to do this 'cleanly'. Luckily, the medic crew this year were much more amenable than last year. We were so grateful, we bought them cake).
The lack of searches (Its an open secret that, even though they SAY you cannot take any booze into the arena, it's completely fine to do so, no?)
Lowlights.
The rain. IF we were on our own, we would have stuck it out. We have a kid. MIRACULOUSLY, she was dry in her wagon. However, it was getting harder and wetter, so went back to tent early. Called it just in time too, as it got VERY wet out there.
The closing off most of the access between Far Out and the rest of the festival to do prep work for a burning of some wood made to look like a moody man. Not sure if this is controversial. And I haven't seen anyone else moan about it. However......I get there has to be safety checks and fireworks set up etc. However.....the burning of the green man is at midnight. Why effectively close off the field so early (around 4pm this year?!?) meaning the Far Out tent is effectively inaccessible to wheelchairs or trollies etc?
And....thats it. It was a lovely time, with lovely people doing lovely things, in a lovely place.
Lovely.
Bring on the 30th of September and the mindfuck that is trying to get tickets for next year...
(EDIT : Almost forgot. The toilets were really grim this year! Although the addition of lady urinals at most toilet points was ace. WEll, my partner was pleased anyways....)
