OK. Day one of ARG Com Fest. OBVIOUSLY, with it being lots of Edinburgh previews, it would be unfair to mention the stuff that wasn't funny or didn't work (I think I have done so in the past. I regret that now...). So....here was the stuff that was funny/worked. Tarot. As bloody funny as ever. Sketch comedy will NEVER die. Nick Helm. Seems to be in a 'happier' place. Back to his best Alex Kealy. Seemed to be having a mini breakdown on stage. He REALLY didn't need to. His new material was SO good. Anna Magliano. Made me feel old. In a good way. This is gonna sound a bit patronising. It doesn't mean to be. But, for a 24 year old who is taking their debut hour up to Edinburgh, she had the assured confidence and chops of a seasoned pro. And VERY funny. Ciaran Dowd. Won best newcomer in 2018 with a show about Don Rodolfo. There is a pilot on iplayer. (A link : Don Rodolfo: www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m000vcb8 via @bbciplayer ). This is the follow up to that. Without the props. But....SO funny! Yeah. I see more today. Which is nice. So.....a belated day 2 report. I got in late and got up early on the sunday. So I left early, due to falling asleep during shows. I have become all that i hate. Still saw some absolute belters though. Glenn Moore. An onslaught of jokes. So funny. Celya AB. Brilliant and astute french lady. Rhys James. Dependable and funny stand up. Joz Norris. In reality, im nopt sure this 'show' worked. However, it WAS bizarre in a really funny way. The End.....till next year.

OK. Got in early Sunday from Truck festival. I'm frazzled. We had a 'challenging' time, due to our 'darling beloved' being, frankly, a bit of a bee. Didn't see nearly enough. Managed to watch most of Ditz, who were great. And saw all of Sam Fender, as kid was asleep. I love him. He was great. Caught the end of Murder Capital who sounded ferocious. Saw most of Yard Act Which i STILL cannot get the hang of. Saw the beginning of Big Moon who would have been great to watch all of. Sigrid was good in a pop way. Nick Pope (the ONLY thing our kid enjoyed) was good, in a indie-cult-figure-reinvented-as-a-kids-song-singer way. And....that's all I can comfortably review properly. (Edit : Just remembered, after mrs Moz showed me a video, I also saw 1/2 of Just Mustard. Who were great!) Truck itself was really rather pleasing. Kinda a mini Reading, but much more friendly. Really compact (which, if you WERE watching a lot of music, could be annoying, sound bleed wise). I hear anecdotally that it's not as village fete vibey as before and is all corporate now. Makes me wish we'd gone sooner, as it felt lovely. Having a big food hall raising money for local charities was great. AND they had the best food (the mac & cheese with more cheese than mac. But nice cheese. And the pizza was a revelation!). Yes, there was some corporate shite around, but it didnt seem too in your face....What is with the Mr Motivator shit though? All I could think of was some sort of authoritarian regime ordering their population to have their mandatory hour outdoor exercise, lest you get shot for being a dissenter (hello tories). That could ONLY explain why all those peeps were grinning like loons to a middle aged mad in a mad lizzie outfit (ask Yr parents) doing exercise. I dissented. I wasn't shot. (ANOTHER edit : what is the deal with Kooks?!? Why are they so popular? Why does singer Luke now talk in an American accent and not croydon-ese? Just.....why?) Obviously....we would PREFER not to need a blue badge for our kid. But, the accessible camping was an absolute dream. We parked 15 metres away from our car, plenty of space and facilities were clean (even after Saturday when, it seemed, all cleaning and emptying staff were on strike. And all the toilets were, literally, full to the brim by 8pm, the lack of use in Accessible meant they....wernt full). Yeah...we would have had a wonderful time...if our kid hadn't decided everything was boring and was hard to keep entertained. And did not sleep on the first night. After 2 days of being dead on our feet and frazzled, we did what we would not usually do before and left very early (3PM). Once again, we have become all that we hate. The fact we lived only an hour away contributed to this. And it's not like we have anything else to do over summer. Except another festival. Over 3 hours away. In Wales. For 4 days. With a holiday near Lowestoft in between. Oh fuck. Oh shit. Oh god. Help me. Or kill me. Or both. ANYWAYS....I would recommend Truck if you haven't got kids. And ESPECIALLY if Latitude charge as much as they seem to want to do. That is the end of this review.

Sounds like you had #some# fun Moz...
But also, recognising family is first etc etc, sounds liek Layla needs to go to her grandparents for a weekend once in the summer and you and Manda need to do a festival properly again

But also, recognising family is first etc etc, sounds liek Layla needs to go to her grandparents for a weekend once in the summer and you and Manda need to do a festival properly again Oh, we've had 'discussions'. To be honest, we want Layla to still come to festivals with us. But we want her to be into it too. Obviously, thinking might change depending on what happens at Green Man in a few weeks (oh god. Oh fuck. Oh shit. we are fucked. etc). But at the moment, the general thinking is we all do one festival (to keep Layla acustomed to festivals for when (if?) she starts liking them again...), then Mrs manda does one with her mate, and i do one with a mate/on my own (part of me would DEFINATELY prefer being on my own....).This doesnt include the weekend things that we both goto in that there london, as we come back home and (in my case) do the morning routine on the second day. And. when she's at LEAST around the 12 years old mark, she can be looked after for more than just 1 overnight. ESPECIALLY what with all her medical stuff, it would be better if she could articulate how she is feeling etc. Or.....I die of exhaustion.

Hi I’m doing Green Man this year after a hiatus and wondered if the camping site layout has changed much since 2018. Previously we have always arrived Thursday morning and had our pick of spaces, but now it’s so damn popular and settlers seem to have taken off (hoping to do it myself one year so not a criticism) but will I struggle for space this year?
Any thoughts on beer prices - similar to Latitude?
Will it be cashless - only asking as signal can be pretty unpredictable round there
To be honest I’ll sleep in a dugout and rob a bank for my beer, I’m so happy to be going back!

Camp site hasn't changed too much really - settlers area possibly a bit bigger, and no blue car park unless you're in settlers. We've never had a problem finding space though, and tend to arrive late Thursday afternoon. Seem to recall beer being reasonably priced last year - definitely not £7 a pint anyway! According to the website it is card and cash - we were mostly cashless last year and had no issues with signal etc, I think I spotted a big booster transmitter/aerial though.

Beer was great the last time I was at Green Man (a couple of years ago), especially the beer festival in the Courtyard area, if that's still a thing. Really nice that there were loads of local brews at reasonable prices. Also, there was no big thing about bringing your own drink in.

I think it would be a major shock if Green Man did away with the beer selection in the Courtyard, and I'm certainly not expecting to be paying on average £7 a pint, although given the 2 fests I've been to this summer (Black Deer and Truck), I wouldn't be hugely surprised up to £6.50.
I always take cash to cashless festivals, and I've pretty much always had to use some of it when a vendor loses their connectivity, however briefly.
If you're arriving on Thursday, I can't see you having a problem with finding space; but assuming you're feeling fit and strong, it's definitely worth walking a little bit further from the Orange car park towards the Settlers area so that you are beyond the back of the Mountain Stage, and in the area of General Camping next to the Accessible Camping. The first year I persuaded a few of my Latitude / EOTR friends (inc. River Lodge) to come to Green Man, I was in the Blue car park and they were all in Orange. I arrived first and chose a spot to camp much, much closer to Blue and got them all to walk further than they thought was necessary - they all ended up agreeing it was a good move and we continued to return to that spot until we now do Settlers.

I would also add that. if you can manage the long walk, its worth it to get to where settlers have camped. We did settlers in 2019 and there was LOTS of space still on the Thursday. Yet, if you walked around, the campsites nearer orange were rammed. In other news.....oh shit. What a load of crap. green-man-festival.myshopify.com/products/test-banquet?

Thanks all, sounds like the plan to get near settlers is good to go!
Is the clashfinder up to date? I had a look last night and it’s showing a couple of gaps. Not that I want anymore clashes if possible

I guess at least it isn't replacing anything else in the site, but it is still a bit naff at a music festival IMO.

That restaurant thing made me cringe too. Conceptually it can't be 'worse' than a £12 burger but still...
And yes, it's a long walk from orange car park but we've almost forgiven BitF 😉

Delicious, relatively healthy, not too pricey.

Been digging into the lineup at Green Man a bit this evening, checking the clashfinder etc, and Sunday evening is going to be an absolute clusterfuck of clashes isn't it?

Who else is doing Green Man then? It's our only outdoor festival this year, so pretty excited, to say the least!
I've being doing a deep dig into the lineup over the last couple of weeks, and it is properly good!

I'm really hoping I can get there in time to catch these on Thursday. You can bits of a few early 90s grunge acts in here, but the vocal is super clean.

From a friend of mine: Last time The 1975 were on at Reading, I went to see The Chats headline The Pit. This was their introduction: “G’Day, we’re The Chats from Western Australia. Thanks for coming to see us rather than The 1975. We’re way better than those cunts!”. They were right.
