Hi all, hope ya all well and healthy. Didn't vanish intentionally just one thing after happens. Anyway not doing latitude this year even though the recent addition of supergrass has made thd line up quite good and now a little jel. Going to EOTR bit the big one is I'm ticking of something on my bucket list and going to a European festival. Always wanted to see what it's like with no curfews etc. So three of us (no wives) are heading to Madrid to next year's Mad Cool Festival. Yes I know I'll go anywhere Faith No More are but I'm seeing them at Brixton the month before so it's not just for them. 4 night festival, will I cope? Doubt it! Lol. Google Mad Cool festival and see the line up. Its pretty special. Anyone else experienced a european festival before?

That line up looks ace. Still.....lads on tour. First tip? Its a marathon, not a sprint.
I went to Primavera in Barcelona in 2014. We made the mistake of trying to do 'touristy' stuff. Which was utterly knackering. Bands start at around half 4pm and go on till 6am. And I mean not just the late night djs. Bands. All Bands, all night.
So.....yeah. if you wanna do touristy stuff, do it before or after is my tip.

We went to Ozora in Hungary in 2017 - which was a week long psytrance festival in a valley in the absolute middle of nowhere.
Not your typical European festival experience I assume, stages were playing 24 hours and you could camp in the arena as long as it wasn't next to the roads the fire engines used.
There was a heatwave and I guess Madrid will be hot as well, if you have any sort of choice of tent placement try to find somewhere with shade or you will be up at around 6am as you wake up in a tiny oven.
Book an airbnb for a night either side if you can - a proper shower before you get straight back on a plane back will be appreciated by everyone else on the flight!

No way could I stay in a tent in that heat. We have a hotel not far away and the hotel is by a metro station. Bands on from 6.30pm and last band finish at 4am! I won't be seeing that band each night! 😂

wayne77 you werent kidding about the line up. Some great names on there. Never done a European one. Was always on my bucket list. Tempted multiple times by primerva 2 headliners each night playing full sets! Two massive outside stages, one has, a band on and the other one sets up so you don't have to pick one. Unless you want to see someone on the smaller stages darted around.
