That fiveuke, is my sort of Xmas spirit. Fundamentally gloomy, but utterly beautiful. Best yet!

Tom Waits is top of my dream gigs list. Probably never will get to see him, sadly.

It's handy having a nice CD/playlist of Christmassy chill/ambient at hand over the holiday. Turn it up when you're busying yourself wrapping and cooking, turn it down when visitors arrive and you need to talk and be sociable. And that. Here are a couple of crispy cool tunes to get your mellow selection box started. I'll leave the bottom layer to you Rue Royale - Snow on SnowClem Leek - Snow Tales (Pt. 1)Tim Hecker - In The Air III Peter Broderick - The Last ChristmasRoger Eno - Winter Music...and finally (of course) Sigur Rós - Ég fæ jólagjöf [tr. 'I'll get a Christmas present']

It's a gorgeous song Moz, but Mark Kozelek has too much of 'twat' written on his forehead to press the like button.

Anyone else singing wash your face in my sink?

Anyone else still at work, wishing you were at home in the warm with the family, tinsel and mulled wine? This one's for you. It's Leroy Carr's 1929 blues number, 'Christmas In Jail – Ain’t That A Pain'. I'd imagine he worked in an office cubicle or something. Probably in HR admin or IT support...

I know its only the remaining sad, desperate few sat in offices (we go home early, very early, and it counts as a full day and the traffic in was amazing so do not feel too sad) but on behalf of us, and maybe a few others, just want to say how much this effort by fiveuke - on a platform provided by our amazingly dedicated Moz - is appreciated. Thankyou.

December 2017
"Twas the night before December, when all through the forum Every 'tuder was plotting, with taste and decorum. Websites and memories were scoured with care, In hope that long lost festive tunes they'd find there.
The members were listening all snug in their beds, While twee indie tuneage danced in their heads. And Santa in his two-tone, and I in my cap, Had just settled our brains to filter the crap...."Nothing clever for Door 1 -- an absolute classic belter from Joni: "It's coming on Christmas They're cutting down trees They're putting up reindeer And singing songs of joy and peace Oh I wish I had a river I could skate away on But it don't snow here It stays pretty green I'm going to make a lot of money Then I'm going to quit this crazy scene I wish I had a river I could skate away on I wish I had a river so long I would teach my feet to fly Oh I wish I had a river I could skate away on I made my baby cry He tried hard to help me You know, he put me at ease And he loved me so naughty Made me weak in the knees Oh I wish I had a river I could skate away on I'm so hard to handle I'm selfish and I'm sad Now I've gone and lost the best baby That I ever had Oh I wish I had a river I could skate away on I wish I had a river so long I would teach my feet to fly Oh I wish I had a river I made my baby say goodbye It's coming on Christmas They're cutting down trees They're putting up reindeer And singing songs of joy and peace I wish I had a river I could skate away on..."

Oh my.
I’m in a village near Munich diverting myself from the in-law with Christmas markets. I say diverting because I knew it would happen but he has been torturing me with his phone, insisting I must like his German music; song after beige song, his face leaning across the table, staring, nay glaring at me, waiting for me to declare this the best I have ever heard. What about this one? And this... you get the picture.
And then as I switch off my phone before sleep and berate his brother, my OH, for pretending not to hear all of this....
Here is sanity, friendship and quality. And peace. Thanks, fiveuke, season’s greetings.

“Then out of my earbuds arose such a clatter, I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter. Away to Windows I flew like a flash, Fired up BitTorrent and saved lots of cash. The drum and the bass amid new-fallen snow Wub-wubs and bliss drops in gardens below, When, what to my wondering eyes should appear? Dust Brothers throwing shapes with reindeer!”
(sorry if this looks wrong - very hard to do on mobile!)
