We normally use our caravan but have the kind offer of a local place to stay this year (Reydon). Has anyone used the shuttle bus and, if so, what is it like ?
Trying to work out whether we would just be better off in the caravan.

Hi,
We use the shuttle each year from Wangford (the stop after Reydon) and it's generally very good. I haven't taken it back at night, but I know people who have and it wasn't a problem. The only thing I'd say is that you still have to walk from the bus stop (at edge of main campsite) to the stages which takes about 15 minutes. So I suppose it depends what your priority for the weekend is.

Thanks Daemon.
I can see some sort of weird hybrid weekend with caravan, shuttle bus and walking coming up, if I am not careful.
My worry was the shuttle buses would be full and we would spend more time queuing and walking than festivalling.
15 minutes is a lot less than general campervans.

Hi, we get the shuttle bus from/back to Reydon every year and never had a problem. Reliable and generally on time with friendly drivers. We've often got the last one home (which tends to be rammed) and I think they always say if there's anyone left behind they'll come back.

Thanks Riddler, that sounds like a goer. Still can't quite get my head round not being on site for the weekend but the bus sounds like less hassle than dragging a shed there, setting it up and taking it home again. Guess it means missing the Thursday afternoon chill out session in general campervan though.
I did speak to someone who stayed in Southwold but pitched a tent on the Thursday so they had somewhere to store food and drinks for the weekend.

No problem and daemon does make a good point above that it is quite a trek from/to the drop off/pick up point into the arena. I'd say definitely a mile or so.
Enjoy!

Reydon is probably closer than where they keep pushing caravans and campervans back to every year! It'll be in Norfolk soon!

Yes, I have a feeling the old general campervan site is now the drop off for the buses - or certainly day ticket parking.
It is such a slog back to general campervan that it discourages trips back to the 'van. Hence thinking we would be no worse off just staying in an actual house in Reydon.
Currently formulating a not very cunning plan to leave the 'van there on Wednesday evening then return to it on Thursday afternoon for the duration - with the option of a Reydon bail out if the weather suddenly turns all Futureheads 2019 on us.

For anyone considering using the shuttle buses in future, they are highly recommended.
As riddler said above, friendly drivers and good service.
My main concern was around some sort of confusing free for all at the end of the day. Thankfully, they have their own staff who are in Southwold by day and Latitude by night, to ensure everyone ends up on the correct bus from the correct queue.
The walk in on the first day was about 25 minutes (just over 2km), as you had to go via Chloe's gate to collect wristbands. Thereafter it was not much more than 5 minutes to the arena gates (depending on whether there was a hole in the fence or you had to go along to the guest camping entrance and re-trace).
If anything, it was almost too convenient -as our bail out on Saturday afternoon proved.
The only negative was the limitation on staying late.
