Last.fm finally made a worthy recommendation this week;- Sylvan Esso's eponymous debut album, and happily they will be at Green Man this year.

Having a Fleet Foxesathon, imagining sitting in a sunny field somewhere next year rather than listening whilst cleaning with it tipping down outside....sigh!!!

For some reason Algiers reminds me of Moby and Leftfield. I keep listening to Stealing Sheep's Not Real. They've shot right up my priority list for EOTR. SS were brilliant, twice, last year.

Been through the new Battles album...wasn't expecting it to be fully instrumental but sounds great, back on Sufjan and may move on to some Beach House and EIY again before heading home (and probably doing them all again without headphones).

This week has been mostly The Dears - Times Infinity Volume one....don't get why the haven't been at Latitude or EOTR yet, I'm sure they would fit right in at either

The Dears haven't played EOTR....... They were supposed to play Latitude one year but pulled out.
I'm sure I'll get around to Times Infinity Vol 1 at some point.........but at the moment I am obsessed with Sun Leads Me On by Half Moon Run, the vinyl will be heading my way on Friday. Three weeks without being able to go to a record shop and I cracked and lowered myself to the depths of Amazon. I feel dirty!
The British Sea Power album with brass orchestra album that is out next week is pretty amazing too.

Nice to see you back on line Geof, still feeling good? Not got around to Half moon run yet as I found the last one a tad dissappointing but might have to give it a go. I'm on Soulsavers at the mo as another one is due out this week and I was in Dave kinda mood :-)
Times Infinity is what you would expect from The Dears so a good listen but not groundbreaking

So I've been listening to Tove Styrke - Kiddo for the last month or so (Swedish singer signed to Sony, I know not independent) she's the first Idol contestant I've listened to knowingly and actually enjoyed.

Syncope clip linkyYou might remember on the old forum I started in 2012 to go on about Port St Willow (then the solo vehicle of a lovely guy called Nick Principe). Well after about a two year gap he releases a new album next month and there is a tiny clip linked above (I have heard there is more about, but not found it yet). Now I know glacial, slowcoreish instrumental work might not be your thing (just don't bother listening Raffles!) but do if you have a couple of minutes give him a try, you might not like it but he deserves it.

Fuck me, this is a killer, a very stripped down version of the song on the album.
"If I wasn't gone so completely, this would probably feel like pain" .

I was listening to them on the way into work this morning and ruminating on he fact that the insertion of the definite article can totally change to meaning of a sentence, as in:
"the new El Vy album is the bollox"
